The Story: Feel-Good Hip Hop Built for Movement and Connection

“Line em’ Up” brings together Hip Hop, line dance energy, and everyday joy in a way that feels instantly inviting. The performance video features Dilly Gence alongside community line dancers, creating a visual that is energetic, accessible, and built around participation.

This is not a performance video that keeps the audience at a distance. It invites people in. Whether someone is a longtime dancer, a casual stepper, or the person who usually waits until the third song to finally join the line, “Line em’ Up” gives them a reason to move.

For media outlets, the story offers a strong visual, an easy on-air moment, and a Northeast Ohio creative journey: Dilly Gence can talk about the song, his Akron/Cleveland connection, the corporate-to-creative pivot, and teach a simple section of the line dance.

Why Northeast Ohio: Where the Life Pivot Happened

Northeast Ohio played a major role in Dilly Gence’s journey.

After graduating from Tennessee State University, Dilly Gence worked in Akron as an IT professional at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He had first co-oped with Goodyear while attending TSU and was offered a full-time position after graduation. At the time, he was on a steady corporate path.

But Akron and Cleveland became the place where that path began to shift.

While living and working in Northeast Ohio, Dilly Gence began seriously exploring entertainment. He joined Pro Model Management agency (PMTM) in Akron, first stepped into stand-up comedy in Akron and Cleveland, acted in local theater productions from Cleveland to Canton, and started building experience in front of audiences and cameras. Through PMTM, he participated in a talent competition in Los Angeles, competing in comedy, drama, singing, commercial print modeling, and runway modeling.

At that competition, he received callbacks from agents and earned awards for a comedy monologue, solo singing, group singing, and group runway modeling. The feedback from agents was direct: if he wanted to pursue entertainment seriously, he would need to move to Los Angeles.

That moment helped Dilly Gence make one of the biggest decisions of his life — to leave his corporate IT career and pursue the path of music, acting, and performance.

Northeast Ohio was also where he booked some of his early commercial print modeling work, including print jobs for American Greetings in Cleveland, Cleveland Magazine, and other commercial print opportunities.

That Akron/Cleveland chapter became more than a job stop. It became the turning point where a corporate professional started becoming the artist and performer now known as Dilly Gence.
