After attending Tennessee State University and working in the IT industry in Ohio, Dilly Gence returned to Chicago to pursue his passion for music and performance. That return became a creative reset and a welcome-back-home chapter.

In Chicago, he studied sketch comedy writing, sketch performance, and improv at The Second City. He performed with sketch comedy and improv groups around Chicago as well as nationally, and with his live band. He also spent time as a substitute teacher in Chicago Public Schools and worked with Barrel of Monkeys, an organization that helps students develop creative writing and improv skills, then brings student-written work to life onstage.

That mix of Hip Hop, comedy, live music, improv, youth creativity, and Chicago grit helped shape the Dilly Gence approach: make it fun, make it human, and make people feel included.
